Erasmus Birthday Lecture door Kathy Eden en masterclass voor studenten

Kathy Eden (hoogleraar Engels en klassieke talen op Columbia University, New York) geeft op 4 november in Amsterdam een lezing ter gelegenheid van Erasmus’ geboortedag: ‘Erasmus on Dogs and Baths and Other Odious Comparisons’. Meer informatie vind je hier.

Eden geeft ook een Masterclass voor (R)MA-studenten en promovendi, ‘Rhetoric, Refutation, and Experience: The Early Modern Connection’.

Taking as its point of departure a brief selection of readings (approx. 50 pages) from ancient rhetoric and philosophy to twentieth-century philosophical hermeneutics, this workshop will explore the status of experience in the early modern period and its investment in the adversarial practice of refutation.
